As Koi have become more and more popular over the years more people are starting to keep them they are amazing fish and very relaxing to watch.
If you really enjoy Koi then its a nice thought to have them inside the house with you where you can enjoy them all the time.
Also as you probably realise keeping your Koi in a Koi aquarium will protect them from the dangers of the outdoors.
However Koi can grow quite large and therefore need lots of space to roam about and grow. So if you do want to keep you Koi in a Koi aquarium indoors then you will need a large tank.
It may interest you to know that there are some reasons why you shouldn’t keep Koi indoors in an aquarium.
So the first reason that you may already know about is that Koi can thrash about sometimes so this is not going to be good if they are in an aquarium.
The next reason is that Koi are usually kept with other Koi but obviously if they are in an aquarium there is a limit to how many you can keep. As a guide you don’t want more than two Koi per 100 to 150 gallon aquarium.
It may interest you to know that your Koi aquarium will need a good lid because Koi will often times in outdoor ponds or in the wild jump out of the water and obviously this is not good in an indoor aquarium.
However if you can find a big enough Koi aquarium then theres no reason why you cant do it anyway. Just make sure that your Koi get atleast 150 gallons per one or two fish.
I have looked around the internet and in local pet stores and have found that on average for a new Koi aquarium you will pay around $600.
In my opinion it’s not the best idea to keep Koi in an aquarium, it’s a much better idea to buy goldfish or tropical fish.
