If Being Different Is Weird, Be Weird - Aussie Grills

As with many grill companies, Aussie Grills were born from a metal fabrication shop that started operation in 1959. Metal Engineering Corporation (MECO), the shop in question, began making charcoal and electric grills in 1999. With their headquarters in Greeneville, Tenn., they’ve quickly become known in the market for their level of expertise in water smoker grills, as well as electric and charcoal grills.

Everyone has different needs, and grill makers try to define their niche, so keep these things in mind when you being shopping for a grill:

* Where will the grill be used?

* What type of fuel do I feel inclined to use?

* How much room do you have?

* Do I want it to fit in with existing dcor or try a new style?

* How much money do I have to spend?

* Do you just need a plain Jane grill or is your ego in control?

* Watch for a good quality product, one that will last forever.

* Don’t focus on BTU’s, make sure everything makes sense as a complete unit.

The Bushman, Bondi, and Monaro series Aussie grills each come with porcelain coated hood and bowl, stainless steel burners, Porcelain Flavor Activator, steel cart, push button ignition, and a tray for storing accessories. The Adventure series is a pre-assembled portable gas grill that operates off compact propane tanks for nine hours of cooking time. Adjustable legs allow you to put this model anywhere you travel, operating with 5500 BTUs.

MECO also makes an outstanding portable charcoal grill called the Walk-A-bout. You don’t have to put it together and it folds into a compact configuration. As with it’s larger brethren, temperature control is achieve through hood and bowl adjustable vents.

MECO also makes a countertop model with 200 sq. inches of grilling spaceand a thermostatic control. It uses 1500 watts with three positions. One will do rotisserie. If you want to smoke something, they also make a smoker with 351 sq inches of cooking area wood sides and handles and flavor channels for directing the smoke accurately.

To care for your grill, you may want to do a few things. You can season your cast iron by washing it with soapy water. To ready your Aussie grill for the season, you simply need to remove any dirt and dust, wash it again with the soapy water, and it will be ready to go. No need to jump through hoops to get your grill ready for another summer of fun! Lava rocks and briquettes are not needed, either. The Flavor Activator does the same thing, but better. Wire brush you iron grill parts occasionally so that rust will not occur. Never use oven cleaner on a grill, it is too corrosive.

MECO delivers a well rounded series of Aussie grills. Whatever your purpose, grilling or smoking, outdoor picnics or neighborhood cook-offs, you’ll find a unique solution..
